Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Ferdinand Bol could be acquired at Christies in New York in June 2015 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master Paintings auction, the work Portrait of a lady, traditionally identified as Maria Louise Gonzaga (1611-1667), Queen of Poland, half-length, in a red dress and gold-embroidered shawl changed hands for USD 149,000.00 (€ 133,584.36) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 150,000.00 – 250,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ferdinand Bol achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of A Boy, Said To Be The Artist'S Son, Aged 8 in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 5,189,000.00 (€ 7,356,259.16).
