This artwork by Ferdinand Bol achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in July 2021. In the Old Master Prints auction, the work Old Man with a Flowing Beard and Cap (Hollstein 9) sold for GBP 1,890.00 (€ 2,216.42) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 700.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ferdinand Bol achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of A Boy, Said To Be The Artist'S Son, Aged 8 in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 5,189,000.00 (€ 7,356,259.16).
