Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work The Rain Cloud (Coppel ES16) by Ethel Spowers was worth GBP 4,750.00 (€ 5,349.32) to a buyer in April 2011. This price was achieved in the auction Old Master, Decorative, Modern & Contemporary Prints at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ethel Spowers achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Bank Holiday, 1935 in November 2020 with an auction result of AUD 79,950.00 (€ 66,914.96).
