This price was achieved in the auction Old Master, Decorative, Modern & Contemporary Prints at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Ethel Spowers; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Bank Holiday, 1935 sold at auction in November 2020 with the realized price of AUD 79,950.00 (€ 66,914.96).
