Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Golden Tree by Emil Carlsen was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in March last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 5,040.00 (€ 4,543.41). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Emil Carlsen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Still Life With Pottery Jars in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 325,000.00 (€ 278,491.86).
