Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Stepping Out by Elizabeth Catlett was sold in the Contemporary Art Online | New York auction at Sothebys in New York in July 2021. The price achieved of USD 47,880.00 (€ 40,357.38) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Elizabeth Catlett - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Woman Fixing Her Hair, which sold at auction in April 2014 for USD 149,000.00 (€ 107,426.10).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Stepping Out von Elizabeth Catlett wurde im Juli 2021 in der Auktion Contemporary Art Online | New York bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 47.880,00 (€ 40.357,38) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Elizabeth Catlett mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Woman Fixing Her Hair beobachtet, die im April 2014 für USD 149.000,00 (€ 107.426,10) versteigert wurde.
