Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Locus 3, from Locus by Dorothea Rockburne was auctioned at Phillips in New York in July 2020, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 3,500.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at USD 10,625.00 (€ 9,024.12). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Dorothea Rockburne achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Black and White in November last year with an auction result of USD 119,700.00 (€ 115,954.66).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Locus 3, from Locus von Dorothea Rockburne im Juli 2020 bei Phillips in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 3.500,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 10.625,00 (€ 9.024,12) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Dorothea Rockburne erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Black and White im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 119.700,00 (€ 115.954,66).
