Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Dorothea Rockburne could be acquired at Phillips in New York in February this year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Editions & Works on Paper auction, the work Open Sesame: Sky Chart changed hands for USD 6,930.00 (€ 6,536.50) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Dorothea Rockburne achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Black and White in November last year with an auction result of USD 119,700.00 (€ 115,954.66).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Dorothea Rockburne konnte im Februar diesen Jahres bei Phillips in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Editions & Works on Paper wechselte die Arbeit Open Sesame: Sky Chart für USD 6.930,00 (€ 6.536,50) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 7.000,00 – 10.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Dorothea Rockburne erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Black and White im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 119.700,00 (€ 115.954,66).
