Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Mozart and Mozart Upside Down and Backwards (Lincoln Center Edition) by Dorothea Rockburne was auctioned at Bonhams in February this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 600.00 – 800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 382.50 (€ 360.78). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Dorothea Rockburne achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Black and White in November last year with an auction result of USD 119,700.00 (€ 115,954.66).
