In March 2003 Christies in London held the auction TWENTIETH CENTURY BRITISH ART, which included the work Lears Macaws by David Johnston. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,585.00 (€ 3,744.69), 72% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by David Johnston; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Green Winged Macaw sold at auction in November 2000 with the realized price of GBP 3,525.00 (€ 5,761.47).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 72 % übertroffen
Im März 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion TWENTIETH CENTURY BRITISH ART durch, in der auch die Arbeit Lears Macaws von David Johnston zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.585,00 (€ 3.744,69) und damit 72% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von David Johnston; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Green Winged Macaw im November 2000 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 3.525,00 (€ 5.761,47).
