It achieved a price of GBP 900.00 (€ 1,327.23), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 29%. Admittedly, works by David Johnston have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Green Winged Macaw in November 2000 with an auction result of GBP 3,525.00 (€ 5,761.47).

Die Arbeit Head of a Gyr Falcon von David Johnston kam im Oktober 2005 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 900,00 (€ 1.327,23) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 29%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von David Johnston auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Green Winged Macaw im November 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.525,00 (€ 5.761,47).
