In March 2003 Christies in London held the auction TWENTIETH CENTURY BRITISH ART, which included the work Spix Macaws by David Johnston. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,292.50 (€ 1,872.35), 62% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by David Johnston - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Green Winged Macaw, which sold at auction in November 2000 for GBP 3,525.00 (€ 5,761.47).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 62 % übertroffen
Im März 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion TWENTIETH CENTURY BRITISH ART durch, in der auch die Arbeit Spix Macaws von David Johnston zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.292,50 (€ 1.872,35) und damit 62% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von David Johnston mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Green Winged Macaw beobachtet, die im November 2000 für GBP 3.525,00 (€ 5.761,47) versteigert wurde.
