Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Rising by David Hilliard was sold in the Photographs auction at Phillips in New York in November 2009. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 4,500.00 (€ 3,001.20) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by David Hilliard - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Dad, 1998, which sold at auction in October 2017 for EUR 7,500.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Rising von David Hilliard wurde im November 2009 in der Auktion Photographs bei Phillips in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 4.500,00 (€ 3.001,20) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von David Hilliard mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Dad, 1998 beobachtet, die im Oktober 2017 für EUR 7.500,00 versteigert wurde.
