Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Rising, Wellfleet, MA, 1998 by David Hilliard was auctioned at Christies in New York in March 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 750.00 (€ 528.80). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Hilliard achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Dad, 1998 in October 2017 with an auction result of EUR 7,500.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Rising, Wellfleet, MA, 1998 von David Hilliard im März 2011 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 750,00 (€ 528,80) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von David Hilliard erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Dad, 1998 im Oktober 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 7.500,00.
