Auction result misses estimated price range
In October 2002 a collector was able to acquire the work Wickham Court (Boston Public Library 242) by Clare Leighton for GBP 293.75 (€ 464.66). This price was achieved in the auction Twentieth Century Prints at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 300.00 – 400.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Clare Leighton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Bread Line, New York in August this year with an auction result of USD 11,970.00 (€ 11,043.45).
