This artwork by Clare Leighton achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Sydney in August this year. In the Tales of the City: New York Prints and Photographs of the Early 20th Century auction, the work Skyscrapers sold for USD 3,024.00 (€ 2,789.93) - well above the upper estimate of USD 1,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Clare Leighton - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Bread Line, New York, which sold at auction in August this year for USD 11,970.00 (€ 11,043.45).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Clare Leighton erzielte im August diesen Jahres bei Christies in Sydney einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Tales of the City: New York Prints and Photographs of the Early 20th Century wurde die Arbeit Skyscrapers für USD 3.024,00 (€ 2.789,93) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 1.500,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Clare Leighton mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Bread Line, New York beobachtet, die im August diesen Jahres für USD 11.970,00 (€ 11.043,45) versteigert wurde.
