Sold at the upper estimate price
In April 2019 Sothebys in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work Chartres Cathedral, Buttresses From South Porch by Charles Sheeler. The auction ended at the price of USD 25,000.00 (€ 22,319.44), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Sheeler achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work White Sentinels in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 2,232,500.00 (€ 1,913,024.85).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Im April 2019 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Chartres Cathedral, Buttresses From South Porch von Charles Sheeler zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 25.000,00 (€ 22.319,44) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Charles Sheeler erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit White Sentinels im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.232.500,00 (€ 1.913.024,85).
