In August this year Christies in Sydney held the auction Tales of the City: New York Prints and Photographs of the Early 20th Century, which included the work The Delmonico Building by Charles Sheeler. The »bidding war« ended at USD 4,410.00 (€ 4,068.64), 47% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Sheeler achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work White Sentinels in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 2,232,500.00 (€ 1,913,024.85).
