Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Charles Robinson could be acquired at Christies in London in December 2008 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Children's & Illustrated Books & Original Illustrations auction, the work Fairies observing a bumble bee changed hands for GBP 375.00 (€ 393.86) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Robinson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Illustrations for Aesop's Fables: The fox and the bunch of grapes; and The fox with the cropped tail (both illustrated) in December 2004 with an auction result of GBP 5,019.00 (€ 7,103.27).
