This artwork by Charles Robinson achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2004. In the British and Continental Watercolours including Original Book auction, the work The winged archer sold for GBP 2,868.00 (€ 4,059.01) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Charles Robinson; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Illustrations for Aesop's Fables: The fox and the bunch of grapes; and The fox with the cropped tail (both illustrated) sold at auction in December 2004 with the realized price of GBP 5,019.00 (€ 7,103.27).
