In the British and Continental Watercolours including Original Book auction, the work An illustration for Aesop's Fable's: The lion and the wild ass sold for GBP 2,390.00 (€ 3,382.51) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Robinson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Illustrations for Aesop's Fables: The fox and the bunch of grapes; and The fox with the cropped tail (both illustrated), which sold at auction in December 2004 for GBP 5,019.00 (€ 7,103.27).
