The work Narcissus (illustrated); and Contemplation by Charles Robinson was sold in the British and Continental Watercolours including Original Book auction at Christies in London in December 2004. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,314.50 (€ 1,860.38), 46% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Robinson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Illustrations for Aesop's Fables: The fox and the bunch of grapes; and The fox with the cropped tail (both illustrated), which sold at auction in December 2004 for GBP 5,019.00 (€ 7,103.27).
