Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2014 Sothebys in Paris held the auction Photographies, which included the work 'Arles, Vue Intérieure Des Arènes (Côté Du Sud)', Midi De La France, 1852 'Avignon, Palais Des Papes (Côté Du Couchant)', Midi De La France, Vers 1853Two Salt Prints Individually Flush-Mounted To Original Card. Each Monogrammed And Titled In The Negative by Charles Nègre. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 8,500.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Nègre achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Versant de la colline avec cascade et personnage (Slope of the hill with waterfall and figure) in October 2017 with an auction result of USD 112,500.00 (€ 96,583.10).

Each Monogrammed And Titled In The Negative von Charles Nègre wurde im November 2014 in der Auktion Photographies bei Sothebys in Paris versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von EUR 8.500,00 konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Charles Nègre erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Versant de la colline avec cascade et personnage (Slope of the hill with waterfall and figure) im Oktober 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 112.500,00 (€ 96.583,10).
