Sold at the lower estimate price
In April 2017 Phillips in New York held the auction The Odyssey of Collecting: Photographs from Joy of Giving Something Foundation, Part 2, which included the work Mercure chevauchant Pégase, sculpture d'Antoine Coysevox, place de la Concorde, à Paris by Charles Nègre. The result of USD 30,000.00 (€ 27,535.57) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Nègre - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Versant de la colline avec cascade et personnage (Slope of the hill with waterfall and figure), which sold at auction in October 2017 for USD 112,500.00 (€ 96,583.10).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im April 2017 führte Phillips in New York die Auktion The Odyssey of Collecting: Photographs from Joy of Giving Something Foundation, Part 2 durch, in der auch die Arbeit Mercure chevauchant Pégase, sculpture d'Antoine Coysevox, place de la Concorde, à Paris von Charles Nègre zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 30.000,00 (€ 27.535,57) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Charles Nègre mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Versant de la colline avec cascade et personnage (Slope of the hill with waterfall and figure) beobachtet, die im Oktober 2017 für USD 112.500,00 (€ 96.583,10) versteigert wurde.
