The »bidding war« ended at GBP 10,200.00 (€ 14,759.23), 28% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Charles Jervas have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of A Lady, Traditionally Identified As Elizabeth Felton, Of Playford, Later Countess Of Bristol (1677-1741), Three-Quarter-Length, Seated In A White Dress With A Blue Wrap, In A Wooded Landscape in June 2002 with an auction result of GBP 45,410.00 (€ 70,238.99).
