Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of Benjamin Hatley Foote, Aged Twelve (B.1713) by Charles Jervas was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2012. The price achieved of GBP 10,000.00 (€ 12,332.78) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Admittedly, works by Charles Jervas have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of A Lady, Traditionally Identified As Elizabeth Felton, Of Playford, Later Countess Of Bristol (1677-1741), Three-Quarter-Length, Seated In A White Dress With A Blue Wrap, In A Wooded Landscape in June 2002 with an auction result of GBP 45,410.00 (€ 70,238.99).
