This artwork by Charles Jervas achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July 2008. In the Old Master & British Pictures auction, the work Portrait of Lady Barbara North, full-length, in an oyster satin dress and a blue wrap, on a terrace sold for GBP 42,050.00 (€ 53,425.00) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 20,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Charles Jervas; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Portrait Of A Lady, Traditionally Identified As Elizabeth Felton, Of Playford, Later Countess Of Bristol (1677-1741), Three-Quarter-Length, Seated In A White Dress With A Blue Wrap, In A Wooded Landscape sold at auction in June 2002 with the realized price of GBP 45,410.00 (€ 70,238.99).
