Westmeath, M.P. for Co. Westmeath, half-length, in a red coat, feigned half oval sold for GBP 13,145.00 (€ 20,585.25) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 7,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Jervas - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait Of A Lady, Traditionally Identified As Elizabeth Felton, Of Playford, Later Countess Of Bristol (1677-1741), Three-Quarter-Length, Seated In A White Dress With A Blue Wrap, In A Wooded Landscape, which sold at auction in June 2002 for GBP 45,410.00 (€ 70,238.99).
