Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitled (Self Portrait) by Charles Avery was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 3,500.00 (€ 3,924.27). Admittedly, works by Charles Avery have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled (IMIM; Ray (detail)) in October 2015 with an auction result of GBP 14,375.00 (€ 20,107.03).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Untitled (Self Portrait) von Charles Avery im Juli 2018 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 3.500,00 (€ 3.924,27) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Charles Avery auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled (IMIM; Ray (detail)) im Oktober 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 14.375,00 (€ 20.107,03).
