This artwork by Carlos Mérida achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in May last year. In the Modern Day Auction auction, the work Canto al Maya sold for USD 69,300.00 (€ 64,579.26) - well above the upper estimate of USD 35,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Carlos Mérida - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work El Pequeño Venado, which sold at auction in May 2019 for USD 212,500.00 (€ 190,600.05).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Carlos Mérida erzielte im Mai letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern Day Auction wurde die Arbeit Canto al Maya für USD 69.300,00 (€ 64.579,26) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 35.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Carlos Mérida mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit El Pequeño Venado beobachtet, die im Mai 2019 für USD 212.500,00 (€ 190.600,05) versteigert wurde.
