This artwork by Bill Jacobson achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in New York in March 2007. In the Saturday@Phillips auction, the work New Year's Day #5074 sold for USD 5,760.00 (€ 4,306.86) - well above the upper estimate of USD 3,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Bill Jacobson; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot #3543 sold at auction in September 2021 with the realized price of USD 6,300.00 (€ 5,441.82).
