Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Three Roman cameos: Hercules and a nymph; Ceres; and Theseus with the slain Minotaur by Bernard Picart was sold in the Old Master Pictures and Drawings auction at Christies in London in December 2003. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 700.00 – 1,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 705.00 (€ 998.54) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Bernard Picart have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work An Allegorical Frontispiece, Perhaps A Reflection On Human Frailty in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 6,875.00 (€ 7,855.89).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Three Roman cameos: Hercules and a nymph; Ceres; and Theseus with the slain Minotaur von Bernard Picart wurde im Dezember 2003 in der Auktion Old Master Pictures and Drawings bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 700,00 – 1.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 705,00 (€ 998,54) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Bernard Picart auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit An Allegorical Frontispiece, Perhaps A Reflection On Human Frailty im Juli 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.875,00 (€ 7.855,89).
