Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Minerva and Mars by Bernard Picart was sold in the Quality in Detail. The Juli and Andrew Wieg Collection auction at Sothebys in London in March 2021. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 2,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 2,016.00 (€ 2,368.28). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Bernard Picart - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work An Allegorical Frontispiece, Perhaps A Reflection On Human Frailty, which sold at auction in July 2013 for GBP 6,875.00 (€ 7,855.89).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Minerva and Mars von Bernard Picart wurde im März 2021 in der Auktion Quality in Detail. The Juli and Andrew Wieg Collection bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 2.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 2.016,00 (€ 2.368,28) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Bernard Picart mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit An Allegorical Frontispiece, Perhaps A Reflection On Human Frailty beobachtet, die im Juli 2013 für GBP 6.875,00 (€ 7.855,89) versteigert wurde.
