Auction result well in line with expectations
In February 2024 Christies in New York held the auction Old Master & British Drawings, which included the work Study of a nude male by Bernard Picart. The price achieved of USD 3,528.00 (€ 3,083.38) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Bernard Picart - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work An Allegorical Frontispiece, Perhaps A Reflection On Human Frailty, which sold at auction in July 2013 for GBP 6,875.00 (€ 7,855.89).
