Conceived in 1981 and cast in 1983. This work is number seven from an edition of seven plus three artist's casts, two of which have unique gilded bases.

The work Ball and Claw by Barry Flanagan was auctioned at Christies in New York in November 2021. It achieved a price of USD 275,000.00 (€ 243,643.13), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 25%. Admittedly, works by Barry Flanagan have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Nijinski Hare in March 2019 with an auction result of GBP 1,451,250.00 (€ 1,684,421.98).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Ball and Claw von Barry Flanagan kam im November 2021 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 275.000,00 (€ 243.643,13) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 25%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Barry Flanagan auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Nijinski Hare im März 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.451.250,00 (€ 1.684.421,98).
