Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Sonic Reducer by Banks Violette was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in March 2015, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 11,875.00 (€ 11,055.77). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Banks Violette achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work burnout (fadeaway), vol.1 in June 2008 with an auction result of GBP 205,250.00 (€ 259,442.88).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Sonic Reducer von Banks Violette im März 2015 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 50.000,00 – 70.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 11.875,00 (€ 11.055,77) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Banks Violette erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit burnout (fadeaway), vol.1 im Juni 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 205.250,00 (€ 259.442,88).
