Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Art Day Auction: Online, which included the work Negative Painting by Augustus Thompson. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,024.00 (€ 2,530.97) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Augustus Thompson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Natural Order (#2), which sold at auction in July 2015 for GBP 3,750.00 (€ 5,316.24).
