Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Bedroom States 2 by Augustus Thompson was auctioned at Phillips in an online auction in July 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 500.00 – 700.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 315.00 (€ 369.40). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Augustus Thompson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Natural Order (#2) in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 3,750.00 (€ 5,316.24).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Bedroom States 2 von Augustus Thompson im Juli 2021 bei Phillips in einer Online-Auktion versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 500,00 – 700,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 315,00 (€ 369,40) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Augustus Thompson erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Natural Order (#2) im Juli 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.750,00 (€ 5.316,24).
