Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Augustus Saint-Gaudens could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in March 2019 for an unexpectedly low price. In the American Art auction, the work Robert Louis Stevenson changed hands for USD 27,500.00 (€ 24,492.34) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Augustus Saint-Gaudens achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Victory in May 2017 with an auction result of USD 2,047,500.00 (€ 1,822,267.71).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Augustus Saint-Gaudens konnte im März 2019 bei Sothebys in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion American Art wechselte die Arbeit Robert Louis Stevenson für USD 27.500,00 (€ 24.492,34) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Augustus Saint-Gaudens erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Victory im Mai 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.047.500,00 (€ 1.822.267,71).
