This artwork by Augustus Saint-Gaudens achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in June 2020. In the American Art auction, the work Abraham Lincoln: The Man (Standing Lincoln) sold for USD 1,580,000.00 (€ 1,406,820.41) - well above the upper estimate of USD 900,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Augustus Saint-Gaudens; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Victory sold at auction in May 2017 with the realized price of USD 2,047,500.00 (€ 1,822,267.71).
