The result of USD 200,000.00 (€ 171,718.04) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Augustus Saint-Gaudens achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Victory in May 2017 with an auction result of USD 2,047,500.00 (€ 1,822,267.71).

Die Arbeit The Puritan (Samuel Chapin) von Augustus Saint-Gaudens wurde im Oktober 2020 in der Auktion American Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 200.000,00 (€ 171.718,04) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 200.000,00 – 300.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Augustus Saint-Gaudens erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Victory im Mai 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.047.500,00 (€ 1.822.267,71).
