In March 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Art Online, which included the work Jules Bastien Lepage: A Portrait Relief by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The »bidding war« ended at USD 20,000.00 (€ 18,134.01), 33% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Augustus Saint-Gaudens achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Victory in May 2017 with an auction result of USD 2,047,500.00 (€ 1,822,267.71).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 33 % übertroffen
Im März 2020 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Art Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Jules Bastien Lepage: A Portrait Relief von Augustus Saint-Gaudens zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 20.000,00 (€ 18.134,01) und damit 33% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Augustus Saint-Gaudens erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Victory im Mai 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.047.500,00 (€ 1.822.267,71).
