Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2020 Christies in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work Robert Louis Stevenson by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 120,000.00 – 180,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 125,000.00 (€ 107,323.77) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Augustus Saint-Gaudens achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Victory in May 2017 with an auction result of USD 2,047,500.00 (€ 1,822,267.71).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2020 führte Christies in New York die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Robert Louis Stevenson von Augustus Saint-Gaudens zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 120.000,00 – 180.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 125.000,00 (€ 107.323,77) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Augustus Saint-Gaudens erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Victory im Mai 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.047.500,00 (€ 1.822.267,71).
