This price was achieved in the auction 19th Century American Art at Christies in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 35,000.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Augustus Saint-Gaudens achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Victory in May 2017 with an auction result of USD 2,047,500.00 (€ 1,822,267.71).
