Auction result well in line with expectations
The work H. T. M. (Human, Time and Machine) by Aref El Rayess was auctioned at Christies in Dubai in October 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 62,500.00 (€ 49,282.45) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Aref El Rayess - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Jeddah (Al Shatek el Hadi) (The Calm Shore), which sold at auction in March 2015 for USD 137,000.00 (€ 127,548.65).
