In November 2016 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Art Day Auction, which included the work Flats by Anthony Caro. The »bidding war« ended at USD 588,500.00 (€ 556,343.35), 68% above the upper estimate. This high result makes Flats the most expensive artwork by Anthony Caro that we have observed at auctions so far.
