Auction result misses estimated price range

When this work without title by Amy Sillman was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in July 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,268.00 (€ 1,911.67). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Amy Sillman achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Your Affection in November 2021 with an auction result of USD 870,000.00 (€ 770,798.26).

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Als diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Amy Sillman im Juli 2021 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 2.268,00 (€ 1.911,67) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Amy Sillman erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Your Affection im November 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 870.000,00 (€ 770.798,26).
