The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,292.50 (€ 2,112.90), 29% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alfred H. Vickers - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The ferry, which sold at auction in May 2003 for GBP 4,935.00 (€ 6,875.70).
