When the work The ferry by Alfred H. Vickers was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2003, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 1,200.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at GBP 4,935.00 (€ 6,875.70). This high result makes The ferry the most expensive artwork by Alfred H. Vickers that we have observed at auctions so far.
