Auction result misses estimated price range
When this work without title by Alfonso Ossorio was auctioned at Christies in New York in December 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 11,875.00 (€ 10,365.75). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alfonso Ossorio achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nevertheless in May last year with an auction result of USD 604,800.00 (€ 563,600.78).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Alfonso Ossorio im Dezember 2018 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 11.875,00 (€ 10.365,75) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Alfonso Ossorio erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Nevertheless im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 604.800,00 (€ 563.600,78).
